The purpose of this thesis is to determine the the link between strategy and decision making by analysing strategy determination progresses in term of decision making models. It is targetted that to make contribution to reduce immortalities during their management progresses of the family firms in Sakarya. The problematic point of the research based on analyzing the strategy determination in terms of decision making models in family firms is to answer the question of "What is the potencial of the decision making models to explain strategy determination in family firms in production industry in Sakarya?". As it is know that the 65%-80% of the firms are family firms in the World and (Bakan and othes, 2006:332) but the ratio is more high at about 95% in Turkey. In this context, the scope of our search is the the incorporate and limited companies (family firms) which act in parts, machine, food equipment, electrical goods and construction industries are located in Sakarya. Different five companies in five different industry at five different locations have been chosen as sampling which have importance in Sakaya manufacturing industry. In the first chapter, a conceptual framework is being drawn about family firms and strategy determination, the management structure, stated the family firms, institutional equipments, the applications for strategy and management and methods of analysis. In the second chapter the main issue is decision making and the steps of the decision making that explained in family firms. The thirth chapter is based on the analysis of the datas which are gain from the field analysis in Sakarya by case study about the links or contradictions between strategy determination and decision making activities. In the research, it was decided that content analysis is appropriate for the evaluation of the data obtained through in-depth interviews. In this study, the content of the data obtained by the case study was analyzed with Voyant Tools and MAXQDA qualitative analysis programs. As a result of the research; In the context of case studies, it is founded that the decision making models which they used, could explain the strategy determination processes especially through the theme of cost. The link between strategy management and decision-making actions provides values, product / service, capital and labor factors, and family relations and management capability factors have a particular impact on strategy management.
