Amongst different water purification, sorption is the best one due to its unique features; especially universal and inexpensive. A large number of publications are appearing in the literature every year, confirming its importance. There is a great need to write a brief note on this method to keep aware of the researchers. The paper discusses the state-of-arts of the sorption process at batch and column levels. Some preliminary aspects are also discussed.
