Effect of the europium doping on the calcium sulphide: structural and thermal aspects

CaS and CaS:Eu compounds were synthesized from decomposition reaction of CaCO3 at H2S environment and solid state reaction at high vacuum, respectively. The structure of the synhesized samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction method. Atomic coordinates and lattice parameters were determined for these compounds having cubic symmetry. Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and Thermogravimetric (TG) analyzes of CaS and CaS:Eu compounds were carried out in the temperature range of 20 – 1000 oC. Thermal measurements were comparatively studied for undoped and europium doped CaS compounds.
