The aim of this study is to examine which factors have an effect on the academic procrastination of social work students. The sample of the study consisted of 569 social work undergraduate students, of which 486 (85.4%) women and 83 (14.6) were men. As data collection tools, the Socio-Demographic Questionnaire was developed by the researchers, Academic Procrastination Scale and Academic Motivation Scale was used in the study. Research findings reveal the existence of a significant relationship between the scores of the participants from the Academic Procrastination Scale and the scores they got from the sub-dimensions of the Academic Motivation Scale. The research findings revealed that the academic procrastination scores of the participants differed significantly according to gender, the type of university they attended and the environment they lived in. In the context of the findings, it can be said that the attempts of social work academics to increase the academic motivation of students will provide an important gain in the fight against academic procrastination.
