The phase equilibria in the Tl 2S-Tl 2Te-Tl 9BiTe 6-TlBiS 2 system have been studied by differential thermal analysis and x-ray diffraction. The results have been used to construct the T-x phase diagram along the Tl 2S-Tl 9BiTe 6 ([TlBi 0.333S 0.5Te 0.5]) and TlBiS 2-Tl 2Te(Tl 9BiTe 6) joins, the 500-K section of the phase diagram of the Tl 2S-Tl 2Te-Tl 9BiTe 6-TlBiS 2 system, and its liquidus diagram. The invariant and univariant phase equilibria involved have been identified. The system has been shown to contain wide regions of Tl 2Te-and Tl 9BiTe 6-based quaternary solid solutions. © 2008 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
