The phase equilibria in the 3Tl2S + Sb2Te 3↔3Tl2Te + Sb2S3 reciprocal system have been investigated over the entire concentration range mainly by the X-ray powder diffraction and differential thermal analyses, with the aid of microhardness and EMF measurements applied to equilibrated alloys. Based on the experimental results, the phase diagrams of the polythermal section and isothermal section at 300 K as well as the projection of the liquids surface have been reconstructed. It was found that the system is reciprocally reversible and is characterized by wide solid solubility fields along the boundary systems Sb2S3Sb2Te3 and Tl 2STl2Te as well as TlSbS2TlSbTe2 section and also based on the Tl9SbTe6 ternary phase. The homogeneity ranges and primary crystallization fields as well as the types and coordinates of non- and monovariant equilibria were determined in the system. A comparison of phase equilibria in quaternary reciprocal systems containing chalcogenides of thallium and antimony or bismuth is given. © 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
