Abstract. Islamic architecture, encompassing both religious and non-religious structures, has evolved since the 7th
century to become one of the world’s most renowned architectural traditions. The advent of Islam brought
transformative changes to the architectural landscapes of Muslim countries, including Azerbaijan. Islamic architecture
often employs geometric and abstract elements to symbolize divine order and convey spiritual ideas.
This study focuses on the architectural heritage of Nakhchivan, an ancient region of Azerbaijan, exploring its
unique aesthetic criteria. By analyzing decorative styles and techniques from this period, the article seeks to highlight
the cultural and artistic significance of Nakhchivan’s Islamic architecture.
