In this paper, a fuzzy model is proposed to evaluate Socio-economic Security Index (SESI) for Azerbaijan that is one of the four components constituting Social Quality. International organizations use classical methods in computation of global social and economic indices where the data uncertainty is not taken into account. The main purposes of the current research are to take into account the fuzziness of input data, to compute weights of indicators that constitute SESI, and derive an aggregated overall value. The work covers the following techniques as: normalization of positive and negative affecting indicators, fuzzification of normalized data, fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) based weight evaluation, checking the consistency of fuzzy triangular number-based comparison matrix, fuzzy aggregation of indicators and sub-indices, and conversion of aggregated fuzzy value of SESI into linguistic terms. The obtained results illustrate SESI level in Azerbaijan which can be used in analysis and development of socio-economic situation in any country.
