The distinctive physico-chemical properties of magnesium and its alloys require special techniques to accurately measure their thermophysical properties. A rotational inductive measurement technique has been modified and used to determine the electrical resistivity of magnesium alloys AE42 and AZ91E over a wide range of temperature (including the molten alloy). In addition, the thermal conductivity of the alloy was estimated from these data using the Wiedemann-Franz-Lorenz law.
