The Solid-State Transformers (SSTs) are considered as one of the key enablers for the new more efficient and resilient power grid. Thermal management of the system is one of the important challenges in SST design. To achieve better thermal management, determination of the loss values is essential. Therefore, in this study, the loss analysis of a modular Medium Voltage (MV) SST is presented. To obtain the total loss value of the SST, one module is analyzed, and the loss value of the module is investigated. Losses for the active-front-end converter, primary and secondary converters of the isolated DC-DC converter stage and high-frequency transformer are all investigated and calculated. This, total loss of the system is obtained to be used in cooling system design.
