While 53.19% of the healthcare workers do not know their duties for a social worker, 34.3% stated that they do not need a social worker. While 80.7% of physicians and 63.5% of nurses stated that they needed a social worker, this rate was lower for other healthcare professionals. Healthcare professionals are most likely to respond to social workers when they have problems with the discharge procedures and accommodation of homeless patients (11.8%), pregnancy problem under 18 years of age (9.2%), care of homeless patients (8.2%), children in cases of negligence and abuse (6.7%). Conclusion: More studies are needed to increase the awareness of medical social work and social workers in order to support patients in terms of bio-psychosocial aspects and to benefit from better treatment services.
