The aim of the investigation is to determine the stylistic features of the Azerbaijani and English toponyms connected with phonetic change. To create figurativeness in literary style various phonetic, grammatical and lexical means of expression are widely used. By using the phonetically changed variants of toponyms and their original pronunciation forms, writers vividly describe literary characters and real-life situations, create certain stylistic-communicative effects within the literary text. Having rich stylistic features phonetically changed toponyms serve as the means of expression of the aim of the writer.
