Thermal stability of various double chalcogenides of Tl and Ag, Sn, Sb has been estimated using their melting entropies, enthalpies of their formation from simple chalcogenides. It has been shown that thermal stability depends on the type of chalcogene atom (S or Se), valency of the metal and on the M to Tl ratio in the compound. The increase of the bond ionity in a simple metal chalcogenide decreases the stability, therefore, d-metals form more stable double chalcogenides. The obtained conformities make possible to predict relative thermal stability of analogous compounds of other metals.
