Abstract

Among the renewable energy resources, solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), owing to their high power conversion and flexibility in the use of a variety of fuels, are the potential candidates. In this study, strontium iron zinc-based SOFC composite cathode materials were constructed by the sol-gel approach and were subjected to various characterization techniques. XRD patterns established the presence of polycrystalline materials owing to the presence of different peaks. The conductivity of the synthesized materials was found to be enhanced with increasing strontium content. The conductivity value of the optimized sample suggested that these synthesized novel compositions, SrxZn0.5Fe0.5-xO4, where x = 0 to 0.2, are viable for the synthesis of a variety of these types of cathode materials. The synthesis technique (sol-gel method) will be evaluated to be opted for SOFCs applications.
