Abstract

This review is an update on development of methodologies towards the synthesis of (hetero)aryl-substituted heteroarenes through desulfitative direct arylation of C(heteroaryl)-H bonds using aryl sulfonyl chlorides as coupling partners starting from 2011 onwards. For clarity, the review is divided into four main sections according to the type of heterocycles: (i) arylation of nitrogen-heterocycles; (ii) arylation of oxygen-heterocycles; (iii) arylation of sulfur-heterocycles; and (iv) arylation of heterocycles with two heteroatoms.
