The article is devoted to the policy of korenisation (nationalisation) pursued by the Bolsheviks in the South Caucasus in the 1920s. The elements of this policy, coming from the general national policy of the Bolsheviks in this period of time and the specifics of its implementation in the South Caucasus are noted. The initial contradictions in the approach to the national question forced the Soviet authorities to apply double standards in this policy, dividing it at the functional level into "soft" and "hard" lines. On the basis of demographic and other statistical data, the author conducted a comparative analysis of the application and results of the Korenisation in the South Caucasus and argumentatively refuted some conclusions of a number of Armenian historians. Keywords: Korenisation , soft line, South Caucasus, national self-determination
