The article describes a new effective method for solving the problems associated with calculating the dispersion characteristics of a circular metal waveguide with inhomogeneous filling. It is shown that it is possible to calculate not only the phase constant, but also the attenuation in a multimode waveguide. The dielectric profile was approximated, which means that the method is suitable for solving the problems of optimal stratification of inhomogeneously filled lines. In this case, the effectiveness of the method is provided by its matrix form and the use of recurrent equations of the theory of chains.
