The South Caucasus region is located at the intersection of strategic North–South and East–West trade routes. Because of the regional conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the region's countries have not fully tapped the potential of strategic geolocation to achieve regional economic integration. Despite the three countries’ lack of trilateral trade links and regional economic cooperation, each country's economy grew steadily until the global COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic's consequences had a negative impact on the regional economy. On the other hand, Armenia and Azerbaijan's 44-day Karabakh war in 2020 has put additional strain on both countries’ economies. However, after the war, the region had a new opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation and make significant contributions to economic development through new trade relations and routes. In the article, the post-pandemic economic development perspectives of the region are studied by making a comparative analysis of the economies of the South Caucasus in the light of the new realities.
