Abstract

This study is founded on the notion that the Arabic language’s crisis of backwardness or stagnation

during the last few centuries is part of a larger problem of underdevelopment affecting the entire Arab

world. Without some sort of remedy, the Arabic language will be unable to overcome this catastrophe. The

Arabs’ backwardness in language and thought can be classified into five categories. Fixed-mindedness

manifests itself most clearly when analyzing anything. Any attempt to criticize the work will be quickly

dismissed by the Arab worldview. Fixed-mindedness manifests itself in a refusal to accept criticism;

many shades of fixed-mindedness can exist. This mindset leads to a disregard for justice, as well as

impulsiveness and improvisation. Self-centered thinking, also known as ego inflating, is one of the qualities

that have a direct negative impact on language and thinking. As a result, opportunism and despotism

emerge. Intellectual conspiracy is characterized by submission to conspiracy thinking, blaming others,

indifference to the seriousness of issues, a lack of sacrifice, and a lack of creative thinking. Superficial

thinking leads to other concerns. These include narrow-mindedness, superficial thinking, constrained

behavior, sacrificing quality in favor of quantity, concrete thinking, and instinctual thinking. This study

will look at the negative influences on the Arab psyche, how they present themselves, and how they

affect Arabic education and teaching. Practical proposals will be made for the improvement of Arabic

instruction to outsiders, particularly Arabs, as well as for Arabic language research and development.
