The rapid advancement of digital technologies has significantly transformed contemporary education systems, positioning artificial intelligence (AI) as a central component of educational digitalization. AI-driven solutions support personalized learning pathways, adaptive assessment mechanisms, intelligent tutoring systems, and data-informed educational management, thereby improving learning efficiency and instructional quality. Digitalization, supported by AI technologies, has expanded access to education through online platforms, virtual learning environments, and smart learning management systems, helping to overcome geographical and institutional barriers. At the same time, the growing use of AI in education raises important challenges related to data privacy, ethical governance, algorithmic bias, and unequal access to digital resources [1]. This article examines the role of artificial intelligence within the broader framework of educational digitalization, assessing its opportunities, risks, and long-term implications. The study highlights the necessity of inclusive, transparent, and human-centered approaches to ensure sustainable and equitable digital transformation in education.

Introduction. Digitalization has become a defining feature of modern education systems worldwide. The integration of digital technologies into teaching and learning processes has reshaped traditional educational models and introduced new pedagogical approaches. Among these technologies, artificial intelligence occupies a central position due to its capacity to analyze large datasets, automate processes, and support individualized learning experiences [2]. Artificial intelligence applications in education include intelligent tutoring systems, automated assessment tools, learning analytics, and virtual assistants. These technologies support adaptive learning by adjusting content and pace according to students’ individual needs and performance. AI also assists educators by reducing administrative workload and providing data-based insights into student progress.

Digital platforms and AI-supported systems have significantly increased access to education. Online learning environments enable flexible and lifelong learning opportunities, particularly for remote or disadvantaged populations.

Despite its advantages, the use of AI in education raises ethical issues related to data protection, transparency, and algorithmic accountability. Ensuring fairness and preventing bias in AI systems are essential for maintaining trust and inclusiveness within digital education.

Conclusion. Artificial intelligence and digitalization are transforming education into a more flexible, data-driven, and learner-centered system. To maximize their benefits, policymakers and educators must address ethical concerns, invest in digital infrastructure, and promote inclusive strategies. Sustainable integration of AI in education requires balancing technological innovation with human values and educational equity.
