Qısa məlumat

This article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the traditional Azerbaijani silk headscarf, the kelaghayi, in the regional centers of sericulture in Azerbaijan (particularly in the regions of Ganja, Sheki, and Basgal), as a unique textile phenomenon that combines artistic, technological, symbolic, and cultural aspects. In the course of the research, modern scientific methods were applied: literary-analytical review, historical-graphic analysis of the development of kelagai production reflecting the ethnographic, artistic, and technological features of folk art, system structural analysis, and methods of classification of compositional elements. The study identifies the distinctive features of the construction of national headscarves “Kelagai.” Special attention is given to the study of natural dyes such as pomegranate peel, saffron, barberry, and onion husks, which have traditionally been used for dyeing silk fabrics in Azerbaijan. The author provides a detailed analysis of the batik technique, multi-stage dyeing methods, and the specifics of wooden stamps.
