The article studies the mechanism of adhesion formation of innovative insulating material-asphalt-resin oligomer of asmol for protection of metal surface from corrosion. The process of asmol synthesis including interaction of heavy oil residues with monomers in the presence of sulfuric acid is considered. The dependence of change in the value of asmol adhesion in the process of its synthesis is obtained. Evidences about stability of adhesion value of different batches of industrial samples are given. Stability of adhesion is confirmed by results of tests in conditions of operation of pipelines. The surface of metal after interaction with asmol is studied by metallographic methods-light (optical) microscopy. Results of adhesion strength of asmol with metal surface are given. The hypothesis about chemical interaction of asmol with a metal surface is confirmed.
