Qısa məlumat:
In this study, it is aimed to analyze "gentleman" figure in Kutadgu Bilig compared to authentic leadership. Another aim of the research is to reveal the mental (paradigmatic) difference between the two civilizations by making a comparison between the meaning content of the "gentleman" concept originating from our own cultural roots and the "leader" concept produced by Western ideas. This research was conducted with a hermeneutic approach. Data analysis was based on Wolcott (1994) (descriptive) data analysis technique. In the selection of the sample, "purposeful sampling" was used in accordance with the nature of the study. It was decided that the purposeful sampling was appropriate by taking into account the nature of the research, the problem and the research questions. The population of this research is Kutadgu Bilig text; sample "(data material)" lines of expressions of the "bey" in the text and the name "bey". Directly drawn from these lines, the gentleman figure was analyzed in terms of components of authentic leadership. According to the findings of the research, the qualities of the "gentleman" largely coincide with the components of the authentic leadership. This situation has shown that the newly introduced authentic leadership approach is not really different from what was expressed in the past. It is inferred that this is what is expected from the state administrators within the Turkish management tradition. In the literature, up to now it is believed that this kind of research is original, as it is thought that in the Kutadgu Bilig, the "bey" figurative has not been compared with a new leadership concept like authentic leadership. The comparison of a literary and political text with any concept of organizational behavior is thought to make an important contribution to the field, methodology and practice.
