Assoc. Prof. A S A FERDOUS ALAM

Dr. Ferdous Alam is a distinguished Senior Lecturer / Assistant Professor at Universiti Utara Malaysia,  recognized for his outstanding contributions to research and education. With over 15 years of research expertise and nine years of teaching experience across diverse cultural settings, his approach to education integrates critical thinking, practical application, and academic rigor. He strives to equip students with the essential skills for success in their professional and academic careers.

Dr. Ferdous is a Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE), certified by the Chartered Association of Business Schools, and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), underscoring his dedication to delivering high-quality education and maintaining the highest professional standards. These prestigious certifications highlight his commitment to continuous professional development and excellence in business education.

He earned his Ph.D. and completed a Post-Doctoral Research position at the National University of Malaysia. Prior to his doctoral studies, he gained valuable industry experience during a four-year tenure. His academic journey includes an MBA specializing in Marketing, International Business, and HRM, and a BBA in Management.

Dr. Ferdous has consistently demonstrated a passion for teaching and a deep commitment to education, particularly in Business Management. His extensive teaching portfolio includes various management courses, where he has cultivated students’ critical thinking and practical problem-solving skills. His ability to engage students from diverse cultural backgrounds is a testament to his adaptability and effectiveness as an educator.

Dr. Ferdous's research is both extensive and interdisciplinary, bridging business management, economics, environmental studies, and social development. He boasts an impressive publication record of 120 articles and 57 journal papers in leading international journals. Additionally, he has presented 50 research papers and six posters/magazines at international conferences. His scholarly output also includes four book chapters, one case study, and two editorial notes. His achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including the Excellent Service Award, top author recognition for WoS/SCOPUS-indexed publications, and the highest KPI score from 2019 to 2023. His research interests span a range of topics, including International Economics, Sustainability Management of Tourism, Oil Palm and Palm Oil, Environmental Disaster Management, and International Business Management.

In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Ferdous is actively involved in several prestigious research networks. He is an Associate Fellow at the Center for Sustainability Research and Consultancy (CSRC), a Senior International Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a Research Fellow at the UNEC Centre for European Economy, a member of the Global Sustainable Futures Network (GSFN), and a member of the CONNECTING ASIA research network. His service as an editorial board member and reviewer for multiple indexed journals further exemplifies his dedication to advancing the scholarly community.
