Assoc. Prof. GÜNAY PİRİYEVA

Piriyeva Gunay Rza 

Born on october 6, 1975, in Baku, Azerbaijan

In 1997, she graduated with honours in Sociology from the Faculty of Sociology and Social Management at the Baku Institute of Social Management and Political Science (now the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan).

Her academic career began in 1996, when she worked as a laboratory assistant at the Department of Political Science and Law at the Azerbaijan State Economic Institute. Since 2006, she has served as a lecturer, senior lecturer, and associate professor at the Department of Political Science and Sociology of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). In 2016, she became an associate professor in the Department of Humanitarian Sciences.

In 2011, she defended her dissertation titled “The Impact of the Globalization Process on the Dynamics of Women’s Socio-Cultural Roles” at the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology, and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. In 2013, she was awarded the academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy.

She is the author of 20 scientific articles published in local and international journals, six academic programs, one teaching manual, and one textbook. Since 2019, she has been pursuing post-doctoral research at the Department of Philosophy and Social Psychology of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In 2021, she was awarded the badge “Advanced Education Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan” by the Minister of Education in recognition of the 90th anniversary of UNEC.
In 2025, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), she was honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation (“Fəxri fərman”) by order of the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
