Pashayeva Mahabbat Tofig gizi was born on 18.07.1965 in Baku.

• In 1987, she graduated from the Faculty of History of Baku State University (1982-1987) with honors.

Scientific activity. 

Since 1987, she has worked in the Archeology and Ethnography Sector of the Institute of History of ANAS, and later as a research assistant, senior research assistant, and leading research assistant at the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology.

• In 1988-1990, she worked as an intern-researcher at the Miklukho Maklay Ethnographic Institute of the Moscow Academy of Sciences.

• In 2000, he defended his candidate's dissertation and received the scientific degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences.

• In 2006, he received the scientific title of Associate Professor.

• In 2014, he defended his doctoral dissertation and received the scientific degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences.

• In 2023, by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of Azerbaijan, he received the scientific title of Professor.

• Since 2000, he has been working at the Department of Azerbaijani History, then the Department of Humanities of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics. 

• Since 2015, he has been working as a Professor of the Department of Humanities.

• Since 2019, he has been the Director of the UNEC Multiculturalism Research Center.

• Since 2024, he has been a member of the Expert Council on Historical and Archaeological Sciences of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of Azerbaijan.

Projects.

• In 2014, he worked as a researcher in the international project “Khinalug Documentation Project” of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt-Main.

• In 2015, he was the winner of the grant project “Model of tolerance in the multicultural environment of Azerbaijan” of the Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

• In 2022, he was the winner of the grant project of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the topic “Preparation of a scientific website of the heritage of Caucasian Albania”.

• He is the author of 12 monographs and textbooks, as well as more than 100 scientific works.
