Nijat Muradzada is a PhD candidate and a graduate instructor at the University of Glasgow and the deputy director of the research centre at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). Prior to rejoining Glasgow, he held a lectureship in Business and Statistics and a research fellowship at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). His current research explores path dependence and institutional change over time in the Azerbaijani economy in light of regional geopolitics as well as broader topics such as state capitalism, management, sustainability and innovation in post-Soviet geography. Besides his academic work, Muradzada is engaged in individual and corporate consultancy services.
Nijat Muradzada received a postgraduate degree (MSc) in Global Economy from the University of Glasgow, where he graduated with Distinction and ranked first in his cohort, and completed an undergraduate degree (BA) in Business Administration at Istanbul University with Distinction in the top three. He took part in internship programs at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, the Central Office of Yapi Kredi Bank in Istanbul, and the Baku Stock Exchange during his studies.
Muradzada coauthored and authored two books, five research papers published in peer-reviewed journals, two conference materials, and a series of opinion articles published in the press, mainly in the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC).
