Prof. NİZAMİ SÜLEYMANOV

UNEC Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences Nizami Mammad oglu Suleymanov

Prof.N.M. Suleymanov was born on April 8, 1958 in the village of Qashagan, Marneuli district, Republic of Georgia.

In 1974-1979, he graduated from the "History" faculty of S.M. Kirov Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University).

In 1979-1984, he worked as a history teacher and deputy director for educational work at the Juve village school of Agdash district.

In 1984-1991, he worked as a laboratory assistant and senior laboratory assistant at the “Philosophy” department of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, in 1991-1995, he was a teacher at the “History of Azerbaijan” department, in 1995-2006, he was a senior teacher at the “History of Azerbaijan” department of the Azerbaijan State Economic University, in 2004-2015, he was an associate professor in 2015-2023, and has been working as a professor since 2023.

Prof. N.M. Suleymanov defended his dissertation on “The Activities of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan in Increasing the Labor Activity of the Working Class” in 1990 and received the degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences. For his dissertation on the topic “Economic life of the Safavid state of Azerbaijan (1501-1736)”, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Sciences in History by the decision of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 8, 2015, and the academic title of “professor” in 2023.

He is the author of about 80 scientific works, 3 monographs, 2 textbooks, 1 program, 1 methodological manual, and co-author of 1 textbook. His scientific articles have been published in the USA, Russia, Ukraine, and Georgia.

He served as a member of the Expert Council on History and Political Sciences of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and is currently a member of the expert commission on history and anthropology. He served as the chairman of the State Examination Commission for the defense of master's theses at the Faculty of History at BSU.

On October 6, 2017, he was awarded the “Honorary Decree” of UNEC for his long-term scientific and pedagogical activity.

By the order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated November 25, 2020, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics, he was awarded the “Advanced Education Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan” badge for his services in the development of education in Azerbaijan, and in 2025, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of UNEC, he was awarded the “Honorary Decree” by the order of the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
