Prof. Vəkil Həsənov

t.e.d., prof. Hasanov Vekil Safiyar oglu

Born in 1957.

In 1976-1981 he graduated from the Faculty of History of Baku State University. After graduating from high school, in 1981 he started working at the Institute of History of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences by appointment. In 1981-1988 he worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the same institute, and in 1988-1989 as a junior research worker. In 1988 he defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of historical sciences.

In 1989-1990 he worked as a teacher at the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute.

Since October 1990 he has been working at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics.

In 1990-1992 he was a teacher at the “History of Azerbaijan” department of the University;

In 1992-1994 he worked as a senior teacher.

In 1994-2012, he held the position of associate professor at the same department.

In 2008, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences. Since February 2012, he has worked as a professor at the “History of Azerbaijan” department.

Since May 2017, he has been the head of the “Humanities” department at UNEC.

He is a member of the expert council of the “History and Political Sciences” section of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2011, he was awarded the medal “For Services to Trade Unions” for his close participation in the work of the Republican Trade Unions.

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 24, 2020, he was awarded the honorary title “Honored Teacher” on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics and for his services to the development of education in Azerbaijan.

He is married and has three children.
